Another short trip – less than 18 hours total. I’m in Detroit (as if you all aren’t tired of me bitching about that yet) for a meeting. Actually, I’m in beautiful, scenic Ypsilanti in, as usual, a Marriott.
The weather forcast last night was for “a high of 33 with snow and light rain” for today – not a good sign. However, when I got up this morning and looked out the window this is what I found – it’s not all bad, I guess…
Snowy Golf Course

The view of the golf course in the snow.
This neatly illustrates the problem with showing up after dark – I never knew the hotel was attached to a golf course, although the astronomical room rate is now explained, as is the “Please remove cleats before entering” sign on the front door.
Snowy Golf Course

More of the golf course. Notice how the green in the foreground doesn’t have any snow on it? Why????
Tina and Katy – notice the “fall color”?
Narrow Gap

The tiny little opening in the window that I had to take the pictures through. This is roughly three inches wide – just slightly smaller than my camera and there is a nice five-story drop below it. The camera had to be put through this space to actually get a shot.
And yes, Tina and Katy, I was very careful about “jumpers”
Snow Flash

Proof that one should turn off the flash before taking outside photos of a snow scene – especially early in the morning when it’s still snowing.
Look familiar anyone?
Ok – that’s it. I just spent the last time I had to create a presentation doing this instead – ahh, the things I do to keep my audience happy (at least my virtual audience – the one later this morning may be a bit peeved). So, I’ll just have to wing it instead.
Dad, aren’t you proud of me? (that reminds me – I sometimes suspected you did the same thing – and I know I heard more than one sermon several times over the years – BUSTED!).
Jim
